“One worried senior faculty leader called this bill an attempt to make us into Entrepreneurship University,” UConn President Susan Herbst told the legislature's Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee this week. “He is right that this would have a dramatic effect on UConn."
Herbst was appointed as the 15th President of the University of Connecticut by its Board of Trustees in December 2010.
Other major universities, like Cornell, have successfully created entrepreneur incubator programs in Ithaca, and opened a new technology campus on Roosevelt Island in New York City last year that has been highly successful in creating startup companies.
